There's a lot of hype about coronavirus at the moment.
I've been reflecting about the stress and anxiety that must be causing a lot of people and actually it appears we're always stressed and anxious in today's society, so it's worth thinking about a few helpful hints and tips of how to cope with that. There are various ways we can look after ourselves when we're feeling anxious. One of the easiest things we can do is just stop and take a breath. We have the breath with us all the time, so why not use it to our advantage? If you are unsure of what you are experiencing worried vs anxiety, here is a guide for you.
So, taking a nice long, deep breath into a stomach can really help to calm the nerves and slow down our racing thoughts. While we're focusing on the breath, we're not thinking about all the things that are happening in the world, or all the things are happening in our life at this time.
A few long, slow, deep breaths can help calm us. So, repeat this until you feel the anxiety reduce. Remembering that when we have those thoughts to put them into perspective too.
Things aren't always as they seem. We might hear lots about this Coronavirus for instance, but it doesn't mean it's imminent or it's going to happen to us.
We must put things into perspective and not believe the hype, but work with facts! We need to realise that the news outlets make their money out of reporting negative news stories. So, they’re only going to tell us about the people that have got the coronavirus or where there are people that have been in contact with it. They're not going to tell us all the thousands, millions of people in the world that haven't.
I have also written another article which might be helpful if you think you have a potential Covid 19 episode.
