Chronic Illness Therapist | About Tina | Evolve Psychotherapy

I am an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with over 17 years’ experience across NHS services, charities, and private practice. I specialise in supporting adults living with chronic illness, long-term health conditions, and persistent physical symptoms who want to feel calmer, more confident, and more in control of their lives.
Alongside professional training, my work is informed by lived experience of chronic health conditions. This brings an additional level of understanding, sensitivity, and realism to therapy, particularly for clients who feel misunderstood or judged elsewhere.
Accredited CBT Psychotherapist Specialising in Chronic Health Conditions
I have specialist training in the psychological impact of chronic health conditions, including chronic pain, fatigue conditions, gastrointestinal conditions, migraine, tinnitus, and medically unexplained or persistent symptoms.
Therapy can help you understand and reduce the emotional impact of symptoms, not just manage the physical condition.
Long-term illness can affect identity, confidence, relationships, and sense of safety in your body. My work focuses on understanding these patterns and helping clients develop practical ways to reduce overwhelm, improve coping, and rebuild trust in themselves.
Integrating Psychotherapy, Mindfulness, and Mind–Body Approaches
My approach is collaborative and carefully paced. I integrate CBT with mindfulness-based and mind–body-informed work, and I work alongside medical care where appropriate.
Therapy with me is not about promising cures or pushing for rapid change. It is about developing understanding, reducing overwhelm, and rebuilding trust in yourself and your body.
Professional Membership & Governance
I hold full professional indemnity insurance and an enhanced DBS certificate. As an accredited member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) I adhere to their ethical framework and engage in ongoing professional development and clinical supervision.
I am also a SIRPA Practitioner (Stress Illness Recovery Practitioners’ Association).
I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) for data protection compliance.
